Meet Your Local Instagrammer Project By Bobby Anwar Meets Phil Gonzalez (video)

What an amazing experience being part of “Meet Your Local Instagrammer” project by @BobbyAnwar !   Few months ago, Bobby started a trip visiting several countries and interviewing people passionate by Instagram and photography. I had the great opportunity to spend few hours in Madrid and we had so much fun sharing our thoughts, dreams and creative projects. As a Real Madrid fan, i even took him to Santiago Bernabeu for the really first time! We went to visit your Instagramers Gallery too where Bobby enjoyed to shoot the Instagramers Gallery, the really first and unique Instagram permanent Gallery around the world. Thanks so much Bobby for this great opportunity! Myli Phil01 from Bobby Anwar on Vimeo.  ...
Hyperlapse, Layout & Boomerang. The Instagram Ecosystem.

Hyperlapse, Layout & Boomerang. The Instagram Ecosystem.

First was Hyperlapse (actually it was Bolt, but was only launched in New Zealand, Singapore and South Africa), then Layout and a few months ago we knew Boomerang. This Instagram’s proprietary applications trio reached us without notice and to the surprise of many. Do we expect them? No. Do we needed them? Maybe. If you had not even heard of them before, let me tell you what are they for. Hyperlapse The first Instagram’s approach of complementary applications to its popular photo-sharing platform was with Hyperlapse. Introduced on August 26, 2014, Hyperlapse allows us to film videos and thanks to our smartphone’s gyroscopes, after processing it, achieve stabilized video, greatly reducing the natural “shaking” when filming motion on phones. How do I use it? When you start Hyperlapse, the first (and only) thing that you’ll see is its simple interface that will show the phone’s rear camera and let you choose to flip it to take a “selfielapse“. Then you only have to press the main button to begin filming and press it again to stop the recording. The “magic” happens when in seconds everything is processed and almost instantly gives you in result a super-stabilized video that can be speeded up to 12X times its original speed (ideal for long footage). The generated “hyperlapse” is automatically stored in our reel and allows us to share it on Facebook and of course, Instagram.   So why a standalone app and not a feature? According to Instagram’s team to include it within the core functions they had to ”hide it” to keep the usability simple to millions of users. This would hurt Hyperlapse, making it something annoying to use...

Would you name your baby after an Instagram filter?

Would you name your baby after an Instagram filter?

Would you name your baby Lux or Amaro? The fact that Instagram filters help our photos have a special touch (or make them more acceptable) it’s well known for us all, right? But… Inspiration to name your son/daughter? Ah, that’s new! According to the website BabyCenter, among the top most bizarre names chosen by parents in this 2015 are: video game characters, YouTube celebrities and… Instagram filters! Instababies v2.0  Lux, Juno, Reyes Ludwig, Amaro, Valencia and Willow. All transmit different sensations when applied to our photos and now also serve as inspiration for other things. They’re beautiful filters and also super-popular among the names chosen by parents. In our community we have witnessed the birth of several instababies, but luckily (for the children who have to live with those names) parents have had better taste. Trends These names options shouldn’t surprise us much. Current parents (millennials) have all grown up with these Apps and being part of their daily basis, is not surprising that they have been influential in choosing a name for their children. Among the chosen names for the “insta-boys” we find “Lux” with 75% (also chosen for girls) and “Ludwig” which is carried with honor by 42%. Other preferred options are Amaro (26%), Reyes (10%), Hudson (4%) and Kelvin (3%). What about the “insta-girls”? The name “Juno” is between 30% of the newborn, along with “Valencia“, used by 26%. Willow (such as the film) is chosen by 13%. What awaits us in 2016? “X-Pro II Oliva” is a nice name for my son… doesn’t? Cover photo credit: @emmapeel03...
The power of the image: 5 didactic uses of Instagram

The power of the image: 5 didactic uses of Instagram

The power of the image We all know that an image is a terrific tool to support any kind of information because visual clues help us receive and remember better. The results of visual learning makes complete sense when you consider that our brain is basically an image processor, not a word processor. In fact, the part of the brain used to process words is very small compared to the part that processes images (much of our sensory cortex is devoted to vision). The words are abstract and difficult to retain, while images are concrete and therefore easier to remember. We are primarily visual beings. We are biologically programmed to perceive the world in a visual way. We only have to look back to our ancestors: the first written submissions were based on images. Hence, today, 90% of the information we pass on to our brain is visual. We process images up to 60,000 times faster than text. When we say that that a picture is worth a thousand words, we are not exaggerating. 40% of users react better to a content format image than to plaintext. We have more ability to retain the visual content than any other form of information. We remember up to 80% of what we see, while only 20% of what we read, or 10% of what we hear. The online content that includes visual information register better results. Such as a 84% increase in visits, 94% more clicks, or 40 times more shares. But his greatest achievement is recorded in the percentage of referential links getting up to a 567% increase. This is...
