11 Instagram users will live the CatalunyaExperience in Catalonia next week end

 

As you may already know through our @Igers (Instagramers in Instagram) and through our @IgersBcn (Barcelona) and @IgersCatalonia announcements, a group of eleven international users of the popular mobile application Instagram will visit Catalunya (Catalonia) invited by the Catalan Board of Tourism in view to promote the region as a main tourist destination.

Instagramers will come not only from Spain but Italy, France, Germany, Norway, Netherlands and the United States too, totaling probably more than 500,000 followers in their accounts on Instagram.

The list of users elected by the board of Tourism is composed by @timbrado from France,  @goldie77 from Germany (and @IgersBerlin team member)@ria from Norway (and @IgersOslo manIger)  @ilarysgrill from Italy (and founder of @IgersItalia Network) @herbertschroer from The Netherlands @monikaurrutia from Catalunya (Spain), @chrisozer from U.S.A,  @auroramichavila from Madrid (Spain), @kainxs from Alicante (Spain) @julioestrela from Catalunya (Spain) and finally @philgonzalez founder of @Igers (Instagramers Network worldwide) from Madrid, Spain.

 The team of 11 Instagramers will be responsible to promote the tourism in Catalonia region through their photos in Instagram tagged with the #CatalunyaExperience hashtag. (see gallery here).

 

The CatalunyaExperience will inaugurate the week end with a Welcome party where all Igers from Barcelona are invited to assist joining the event at Instagramers Barcelona event on Facebook . The more than 150 Instagramers will be invited to visit the Football Club Barcelona Awards Museum and they will enjoy a fabulous cocktail in one of the most beautiful football stadium all over the world.

The trip has been designed by the Catalan Board of Tourism (ACT) and will take this small group of mobile photographers (June 14th til 19 June) from Barcelona to main different areas of Catalonia like the Costa Brava, the coast of Barcelona, ​​the Costa Daurada, Terres de l’Ebre, the central Catalonia and the Pyrenees of Lleida. Among activities, participants will have the opportunity to discover the Modernist Barcelona, ​​the Roman Tarraco, surrealism at Castell de Púbol and Romanesque of the Vall de Boi. The organization team wants to tap the full potential of Instagram to promote Catalonia and will also launch a photography competition open to all users of Instagram.

The #catalunyaExperience Contest!

During months of June, July and August, and among all the pics tagged with #catalunyaexperience the board of Turism will choose the 300 best images and will exhibit them at Palau Robert in Barcelona from October to November, 2012.

As far as we know, this is the very first trip of these characteristics organized all over the world in view to promote a specific tourist destination through Instagram. We remember great contests with airlines compagnies like bmibaby or more recently Vueling but it is really great news a major local government like Generalitat de Catalunya trusted our active Instagramers community to reach their potential visitors.

Last year, we posted here an article called “10 ways to make profits of Instagram” and one year later we have here the best example that “Trips and Travels” will be definitely one of these 10 opportunities Instagram will bring to marketers in the few next months.
