Instagram 2.1 and bug fixing release today

.

As we mentioned in a post yesterday , Instagram urgently submitted  last week to Applestore a 2.1 version of Instagram.

This new release aims to fix several bugs from the 2.0 version launched two weeks ago.

.

What´s new on 2.1 Instagram version?

.

Better Location Support for Photos

We’ve heard loud and clear that users want better location support in Instagram. Today, we’re releasing two major upgrades to location support:

– Photos imported from your library

When you import a photo from your library to share on Instagram, a list of places near where the photo was taken (if location was recorded at the time of taking) will be suggested.

– Photos taken in Instagram

When you take a photo with Instagram, the app will save the location information in the original and filtered files of your photo on your phone.  The high-resolution version of the photo is saved to your camera roll with geo information

This means you can use a service like Apple’s Photo Stream to browse all your high-resolution Instagram photos on a world map. Currently, we do not send this information with images you upload, though this may change in the future. Read more about how this feature works in our help center.

And more improvement and bug fixings!

Revamped Earlybird and Brannan Filters

Beginning in v2.0, the Earlybird and Brannan filters were accidentally altered. Thanks toIgers requirement, the Instagram team completely re-written filters codes to act much more like the originals. It seems Instagram team heard our heavy feedback on some filters (like Toaster and Gotham) and they are working on new versions.

Tilt-shift has softer cutoff

The blur on tilt-shift in v2.0 was more intense than in previous versions. In v2.0.1,  the tilt-shift preview is consistent between screens and less intense.  A new tilt-shift is planned to be released soon.

Tap to choose filters

The filter picker in v2.0 made difficult to compare between filters. In this release, you have to tap on  filters once again to select them, the same way we had in previous versions. The filter picker no longer has infinite scroll too. That´s was getting us crazy!

Fix for sending filter information to third-party sites

When you view your photos on third-party sites such as web.stagram.com or other web browsers, you’ll be able to see what filter was used on the photo with a little mention.

Bug fix for black images

Save filter photo bug fixed

The  filtered photos save was failing when the “save filtered photo” setting was turned on. It´s fixed now.

Other small bug fixes and improvements

..

Thanks very much Instagram team for this quick reaction to bugs appeared in version 2.0.
