Instagram Launches Hyperlapse DIY Timelapses

Instagram just announced the release of a brand new app to that allows you to capture high-quality time lapse videos even while in motion: Hyperlapse. (download)

I had the opportunity to try the app asap (available only for iOS at the moment . You can read more at official at Instagram Blog.

From the really first sight, the app offers a really amazing concept. In the past I’ve always tried so many times to film time lapses videos in movement, but the results were always quite crappy. Thanks to this app I will be finally able to do it properly!

Image stabilization is simply perfect, even if you are on a windy place or if you’re walking while filming. “Traditionally, time lapse videos depend on holding your phone or camera still while you film. Hyperlapse from Instagram features built-in stabilization technology that lets you create moving, handheld time lapses that result in a cinematic look, quality and feel—a feat that has previously only been possible with expensive equipment”

It’s really easy to use, so download it and try it yourself!

When you open the Hyperlapse App for the first time, it will request authorization to access to your video camera roll and microphone. Once you will accept, it will take you to a capture screen. Press the white button to start recording and tap it again to stop. You may know that you can easily fix the focus with a double tap.
Then you can render the video recorded “on the go” or edit it later.

Remember the app takes 1 shot every 10 seconds (it’s perfect for the time-lapse “look and feel”) and that you can record 10 until 10 minutes with an iphone4 device or up to 1 hour with an iphone5.

Simply choose your playback speed (1x-12x) and when speed is defined, you just have to tap the green button and save it to your photo (video) library.
You will be then able to share your video on Instagram and Facebook directly from the app.
Unlike a normal time-lapse, you can move around as much as you want while you shoot and it will still be stable!

It’s really fast, simple, intuitive and offers a very high image quality. As you may know I´m a “sunset” lover and at this moment of the day, results are simply impressive! No frames out of focus, even with poor light.

I´m really in love with this new video tool, and I think Instagram video lovers will soon be too!
