How to Share Your Instagram Pics on Twitter – Part 2

How to Share Your Instagram Pics on Twitter – Part 2 . Few weeks ago, we posted here this tutorial How to Share your Instagram Pics on Twitter.  Great! So now you can forget it! Sunday Facebook confirmed that Instagram will not share your photos on Twitter anymore. .. Instagram Pics will no longer be available on Twitter.  . Tensions between the two companies, which were once friends (and even partners)  have now become direct competitors. We know that Twitter is working on including filters  into its app and Instagram/Facebook probably just decided to counterattack its own way. The “Whistling Bird” company has arranged things so that technically the platform (that has strongly helped to raise awareness of Instagram service in the past)  can bring a solution to this new behavior. With this movement Instagram wants to attract its own users traffic to its recently launched web platform (and mainly focused on generating future advertising revenues) It probably shows that Facebook do not appreciate very much “baby steps” and Instagram-Twitter integration too. Twitter is the only site that has been denied access to the pictures sharing tool, as  Foursquare, tumblr and Facebook (of course) were not affected by this sunday ban. However, just few hours after the ban, Michael Schonfeld, developer from Dwolla, launched a Chrome extension for viewing instagram´s photos on Twitter. The tool is called InstaTwit. Once installed in the browser of Google, InstaTwit links to Instagram platform again to be previewed on Twitter. The normal behavior now is that Instagram links will appear simply in twitter with no photos previews. But InstaTwit will display visual contents when opening the tweet.  However, InstaTwit only...

How to use Hash Tags on Instagram ?

How to use Hash Tags on Instagram ? . Instagramers always used tags on their Instagram pics. Probably since day one of our fave photo sharing app. At that time, users were simply following their social networks instincts (basically Twitter) and were just replicating their  habits, including a hash symbol before relevant words in their captions. Three months after its birth,  Instagram implemented tag availability, in January 2011. One year ago, we wrote this tutorial about “how to use hashtags in Instagram” and we thought it was time to update information around this important topic. Some Basic knowledge of course but also few “cool tools” and mobile apps to take advantage of a good use of Hashtags on Instagram. . Tags Story on Instagram. . People first started tagging with their own user names and finding their pics easily in a grid view. Then users started organizing groups (creation of our #IgersCities tags like #IgersManila #IgersItalia etc..) or using them to hold contests. It was also when funny tags started to appear, like #Flashbackfriday (where people could share old pics of themselves) #Merightnow or #jj @joshjohnson hash tag for his daily contests. Every day,  new tags were appearing, all kind of tags… Candid, Cats, Dogs, FoodPorn, StreetPhotography, Sunset and more and more contests and winners, shoutouts, awards, #InstaSocial recognition and potential new followers… And we were living in a Happy Tag World. But then the scale of the app changed. We were not just 1 million users, we were now more than 100 million and the problems started. . We got tag slamming. And too much tagging kills the tag. . One of the main...

How to avoid spam on instagram?

How to avoid spam on instagram? . “How has Instagram so successfully avoided spam and follower count gaming that plagued Twitter in its early years?” was the title  ReadWriteWeb used in a recent post the recent rise of Spam on Instagram. . But the truth is that there is a huge and “unstoppable” spam-proliferating fake accounts these last weeks on Instagram. These spamming account use “fake names”, and do not post pictures on their feeds. They are just promoting “again and again” links to “absurd sites” that could help you getting new followers and likes, but also possibility to become a model or work soon on future Tv Series cast… It´s really annoying and our community is starting to get really bored by these “low-cost marketing strategies” and behaviors. . What Can I do today against Spam on Instagram? . Today there is unfortunately “really few we can do” against Spam as it´s the work of Bots invading Instagram through its open developers Api. Most of the Instagramers simply use the “reporting” button in their comments feed. But it seems the Spam Bots are still alive and they daily create tons of new “fake accounts” generating tons of fake comments. At the moment, Instagram Community Team is probably submerged by million of “report abuse” notifications but that´s all we can do. Sometimes these “bots” also catch directly real profile pictures (randomly) from other real users. That´s why many affected users reported me recently they find their own profiles pics on others fake spammers accounts. Probably another trick to get our attention with a “familiar” friend profile pic… Really embarrasing. The definitive solution is on...

How to share your Instagram Pics on Twitter

How to share your Instagram Pics on Twitter   Instagram recently integrated a new feature to help us manage our Twitter Activity and Photo Sharing. Let’s just first remind you of some tips for optimizing your Instagram’s photo-sharing on Twitter. . Some time ago our photo social network made some changes to its sharing interface and since then sharing pics from Instagram to Twitter has been quite messy. Sharing pics has been one of the Instagram’s big success stories but suddenly the “sharing feature” didn’t allow you to adapt your own caption anymore. . (Dont miss this update article Dic, 2012 10th Instagram will not share its pics on Twitter anymore) Think carefully about what you write in your Instagram Pics . If you share one of your own pics directly from Instagram, the “Re-Tweet” of your pic is an exact copy of what you wrote in your Instagram pic’s first comment. Your first comment on an Instagram pic shouldn’t be more than 105-108 characters  (plus around 20-22 characters for the shorten pic url) to conform to the 140 characters allowed by Twitter. If your title or first caption on Instagram comment is longer, it will be shortened automatically by the app. So I recommend you to always write an important descriptive title and related words in your first 20 or 25 words. You may include hash tags and tag users names if needed. For example, write “Having a ride with my #car through #California with my friend Laura @Lpow88 ”  and leave additional less relevant details of the trip for the second part of the comment including other hash tags and info....

How to organize your wedding on Instagram?

How to organize your wedding on Instagram?   As you may have noticed, weddings are starting to be a recurrent and common topic on Instagram, and with reason!  . They are full of picture perfect opportunities; love is in the air, people are dressed to impress and happiness just oozes from every single picture taken.  An Instagram wedding can be a really cool way to involve your guests during the days leading to the event and also to share your best moments with people who will not be able to attend.  . During a wedding I attended last year I still remember taking a bunch of pictures with Hipstamatic and Instagram…people around me where just amazed at what you could do armed only with an iPhone and some Apps… .  During another wedding I attended (a very special one because it was a couple that met thanks to some get together I once organized… lol), I took some pictures of the bride getting in the limo to meet the groom and 2 minutes later, they where online, available for those who could not make it to the celebrations to see.  As a matter of fact, a lot of people that were not present at the ceremony got to see the bride way before those that were attending!  Good thing the groom was not online at the moment… J  . I wrote this post a few months ago but never got around to posting it until Photojojo and the Instagram team talked about weddings recently.  So here it goes! . My best tips for those who want to organize the...

How to use Tilt Shift in Instagram

How to use Tilt Shift in Instagram? . Like me, you’ve probably seen it many times before: Tilt Shift. You’ve probably seen it in photos taken with an SLR camera. What you might call “professional looking” photos. And I loved it at first sight. A figure in the foreground in focus, the protagonist, very important… Behind, a fading world full of buildings, trees and passers-by as secondary actors. And then, those other photos where cars and people seemed to exist in a model village. All, thanks to the magical effect of blur, strategically placed in the foreground and background of an image. I never thought I could make this miracle come true, this incredible mirage that is Tilt Shift, only with my little Iphone. But yes, it’s simple! And easy! . Several editing apps offer Tilt Shift and their results are amazing. Here are three. . The application “par excellence” to create this blur effect is TiltShiftGenerator. The free version of Tilt Shift Generator App only gives you the option of taking a photo and applying the effect in “real time”. It takes the picture with the native camera and automatically applies the effect. The premium version allows you to choose a photo from our camera roll and apply a blurry effect. You can get very good “miniature effects” with Tilt Shift Generator. . . Another  app with a good Tilt Shift function is Snapseed With Snapseed, as well as applying the effect on the part of the photo you want to edit (thanks to a linear or elliptical form), you can choose the level of blur, which gives...
