FlashOn Instagramers 1.22: @Cachafaz

.

Each week we discover new and interesting feeds in Instagram.  This section FlashOn is an open space where we give a shout out and promote IG users.  No need to have thousands and thousands of followers! Soon, it could be your turn!

Few months ago, we met here Kirby Trapolino aka @ktrap through Deepa Chaudhary@deeparocks in Instagram and Twitter). A guy who dedicates his last life to other people, caring for orphans, child trafficking victims, at-risk women and destitute children of the slums.

Deepa talked to me about another great guy she recently interviewed in her blog. His name is Pachi Tamer and nick @cachafaz. This argentinian guy is on a mission to help homeless people communicate and meet their needs by using the power of Instagram.

I decided to collaborate once again with her and feature  @Cachafaz as the grid of the week.

Text by Deepa Chaudary:

In my short time as an Instagram user, I’ve come to realize that the app is for more than just sharing random pictures, it is also great for sharing stories. I’ve come across several inspring Instagramers one of whom is @cachafaz who helps homeless people tell their story using Instagram.

@cachafaz known as Pachi Tamer in real life is on a mission to help homeless people communicate and meet their needs by using the power of Instagram. He has taken over 650 portraits of homeless people to date in four cities – Austin, Los Angeles, Medellín (Colombia) and México City (México) and has plans to travel to Uruguay and few other countries this year.

Pachi’s photo stream which only features homeless people is very well received on Instagram – he has over 10k followers who are highly appreciative and responsive to his work. The overwhelming support from the Instagram community led to Pachi starting the One Dollar Dreams Project, to help realize the dreams of homeless people.

Thanks very much for your interest and help Deepa, much appreciated once again, hope we will go on collaborating this way.

Last minute: This week @Cachafaz sent us this message through his stream:

“I need to start shooting everything I’m doing. I could make a great documentary. But, how? What I do is very personal. I can’t have someone else with me all the time and I don’t want the relationship with my subjects to be affected by a third person. I need to do it by myself. How? Handling a videocamera and my Iphone at the same time it’s gonna be a mess. I need to find a better way.” Well friends, I’ve found it. This is the GoPro HD Hero 2 videocamera. Wearable and gear mountable, waterproof and super small, It’s just what I’ve been looking for. Let’s make a movie! Let’s make another dream come true.
