Next week Instagramers.com and Instagramers Buenos Aires (@igersbsas) will take part in the upsidedown meet that will take place in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The #upsidedownmeet is a photographic project by our friend Meritxell @mevisualartist on Instagram.
Meritxell is from Barcelona but lived in Argentina for more than ten years now. Meritxell felt her world was upside-down from the really beginning: having Christmas in the summer and celebrating her birthday in August in the winter time. Due to this fact, she began the Upside-down photography series, consisting on self-portraits in landscapes that are not her own.
Thanks to Instagram she was able to spread her art, inviting her friends to be upside-down with her in a big journey. Because she wants to turn around your reality and, at the same time, open a dialogue between the immigrant and emigrant fluxes nowadays, in the 21st century.
And that is what the Upside-down-meet is all about: to get all upside-down from the North Hemisphere to the South and take part of an exhibition with this subject: north/south, immigrant/emigrant.
The selected artist will participate in the exhibition we are putting together with a piece of artwork around the main theme of the Instameet: “North/South. Inmigration/emigration” at CCEBA (Spanish Arts Center) where all instagramers are invited to the opening ceremony on march 10th, 19h.
The idea behind this event is to show and promote Buenos Aires as a cultural destination and also to promote the art exchange between a selected group of artists by doing a visual arts exhibition.
Attendees will be part of the #Upsidedownmeet, with four days of cultural and photographic activities, especially designed to see strategic spots in Buenos Aires. Attendees will also be invited to the art exhibition opening ceremony and the final #Upsidedownmeet taking place on Sunday at the Old Inmigrants’ Museum where you can now register here.
