Reflections on Instagram.
.
Reflection tag is one of the most trendy “techniques” hashtag in Instagram at the moment.
.
It doesn´t mean that IGers get nuts with too much brain working (even if could seem so…) but because our IG artists love its impressive result and its apparently simple technique.
.
“According to Wikipedia, a reflection is a reflected duplication of an object that appears identical but reversed. As an optical effect it results from reflection off of substances such as a mirror or water”
.
But as we will see in this article and pics, Reflections today are everywhere in our lives!
..
For centuries, Greek and roman scientists have been mysteriously astonished by the world of perspectives, third dimensions and reflections. Some of them even got crazy or payed with their lives trying to measure impact on geometry laws. Needless to say that artists couldn’t escape and finally succumbed to the hidden power of reflections.
It´s even intriguing to see how two spanish painters living in two very separated centuries like Velazquez with his famous masterpiece “Las Meninas” and Salvador Dali with his “Swans reflecting elephants” used this technique so brightly. There is, of course, many more examples in our recent history.
.
Needless to say that artists are still enamoured with this physical phenomenon which usually means grandiose visual impacts and surprise effect in the audience.
.
In fact, I´m myself a great fan of a Dalia Nosratabadi and it´s a long time i wanted to dedicate a specific post to this young woman work.
.
Dalia is a professional photographer. She was born in Iran and then studied in Europe and lives in Belgium for many years now. She recently published a book called “upside down”
.
She is for me the best expression of what reflections are today in our photography world. Dalia uses to photograph reflections on water in big cities floors all around the globe. These reflections give place to many of her artworks exhibitions from Bangkok, New York or Cannes (France) where she is right now highlighted.
.
I talked to Dalia few months ago and informed her of a probable Big Bang in the world of Photography caused by Planet Instagram impact. She listened to me and took her own nick right away @dalianos . She posted just one pic of her studio at the moment but I´m sure she will join our community more actively very soon. Instagram came to last.
.
Although Igers are very respectful with professionnal quality artworks like Dalia´s one, we have to assume that Instagram is full of talented people too! Users who daily offer us their particular view of reflections.
.
From classical reflections on water surfaces like lakes or rivers to urban reflections on every kind of windows, cars, buses, buildings and even in small objects like glasses, sun glasses and even Iphone screens! Check out Elena (a.k.a @inckognito) works these last days!
.
Reflections everywhere! Big or small. Black and white or colored! All kind of reflections!
Reflections Art will probably mean a huge source for future competitions too. As a matter of fact, our friend @kewiki recently launched a contest around this topic. I will take the opportunity to include soon the winner pic in this post gallery.
.
Most of Reflection Seekers seem to have the same “animal instinct” and try to detect every single shot around with nice final effect. Sometimes crazy, dreamy or amazingly funny. This post is to pay tribute to all these Reflection Lovers in our Instagram World and to all those who appreciate it!
.
I wanted to thanks very especially Luis from Madrid a.k.a @luison who loves this technique and who helps me choosing some amazing pics in Instagram.
